Different Stages
Program and Promise
Different Stages provides a space for youth to learn and grow through creative expression.
Our drama program focuses on inspiring creativity, self-confidence, and leadership through communication, skill development, and performance.
Every program will focus on group and individual exercises in various drama skills, while including creative storytelling, games, and a final workshop for parents and guardians at the end of the session.
Our enthusiastic staff and exciting program are sure to provide all students regardless of age, experience, or background with the confidence to explore their creative selves.
Drama Workshops
They're fast. They're fun. They're full of zany theatre games to discover the actor in you!
Different Stages Drama Workshops run for between six and eight weeks, with one hour, one day per week. Classes provide an introduction to the basic elements of drama : Tableau, Mime, Improvisation, and Script work. Students participate in games and activities which allow them to learn and refine their dramatic skills. For the final class, parents/guardians, family, and friends are invited to participate in a final interactive workshop, where the students will lead them in their favourite activities. This offers a chance for students to demonstrate their acquired knowledge and skill as well as an opportunity for parents to see how their child has progressed.
Summer Drama Camp
"This can't be camp! It's too fun to be camp!"
"Can I come to drama school instead of normal school next year?"
These are just a few of the real student testimonials heard at last year's Summer Drama Camp. You'll come for a week and never want to leave! Past campers have tried to sleep over just so they won't miss a moment of the next day! And why would you want to? With unique themes, theatre games, camp songs, and a play that YOU get to create, you won't want to miss a moment.
Join us for some unique weeks summer fun! Different Stages Summer Drama Camp consists creative one-week camps of dramatic adventures for ages 4 through 12+! Each camp has its own unique theme to meet different interests and provide variety for campers who return again and again! JUNIOR PROGRAMS
Ages 3 - 6
Different Stages offers both workshops and summer camps for junior students. These programs provide a fun and educational introduction to theatre. Theatre games and activities promote the exploration of dramatic expression, the integration of students with peers, and the inspiration of creativity and self-awareness. Junior programs focus on role playing and movement exercises. Students work with familiar themes such as nature, fairy tales, family, and cultural events to promote investigation and understanding of the world around them. Children will begin to explore stories, songs, and forms of communication through dramatic activities and performance.
SENIOR PROGRAMS
Ages 7 - 12 +
Different Stages offers various types of workshops and summer camps for senior students. Our drama programs provide an exciting introduction to drama, as well as a chance to develop and refine dramatic skills for the experienced actor. Senior programs engage students in an exploration of theatre forms and techniques. Our focus is on dramatic skills, such as Tableau, Mime, Improvisation, and Script work. Students learn to express themselves through their physicality and voice. Different Stages drama programs foster students creative development through involving students in group work, brainstorming, design, directing, and acting. Social and self-awareness, communication skills, and leadership abilities develop as a result of the experience and confidence gained in these activities. Different Stages offers our senior students programs that are exciting and educational, where they can explore and interpret stories, cultures, history, and humanity through dramatic activities, personal reflection, and performance.
